There has been a big change here at Fulneck Golf Club in recent weeks. With the news that our longstanding green-keeper was to retire a little early, we had to go on a recruitment drive.
Mick Rook, who was here with us for over 25 years put a lot of hard work into getting the course to where it is now. Just last summer we were getting comments on how good the course looked and how much the greens had improved over recent years. Bonfire Night is one of the biggest events of the Social Calendar for Fulneck Golf Club. After weeks of planning the night was finally upon us, and boy did it go off with a bang.
2014 saw us attract the biggest crowd we have ever seen at FGC and we were not sure what to expect this year, our plans were to attract even more but the risk of over spending on food and fireworks is always in the back of your mind, you ask yourself ‘what if nobody turns up?’ well the answer to that was we would be eating pie and peas every Saturday for a year and we would have the biggest fireworks display for miles on new years eve. The annual ‘Friendly’ between Fulneck GC and Woodhall Hills was held on Thursday 18th June at Woodhall in very blustery conditions.
It was a great match and the course was in lovely condition. Fulneck came out on top in what looks like a one sided 5-1 victory but it was a better match than the results show. Continue reading
The junior section is proud to be representing Fulneck Golf Club in the www.bradfordgolfunion.co.uk development league.
Our first 4 fixtures have all ended in 6-0 defeats, but it is early days for us all in competative golf.
So far we have played away at Ghyll and Northcliffe. And hosted both Bradford and Bracken Ghyll. Continue reading
Last Friday we held a Firewalk here at Fulneck Golf Club to raise funds for the brilliant charity Little Heroes Cancer Trust.
After a nervy start all participants had a great time facing their fears and completing the 6.. yes 6 walks across the burning hot coals. A tot up on the night revealed that we had raised in excess of £1,800.00 with even more to collect. Continue reading
