Thank you one and All

We’re absolutely buzzing to announce that our recent fundraising event was a smashing success, all thanks to the legendary generosity and spirit of the Pudsey community! Not only did we hit our fundraising goal, but we sailed right past it, raising an incredible grand total of £2501.00 to fuel MND research and support. We couldn’t have done it without our superhero volunteers, sponsors, and every single person who chipped in. Your passion for making a difference has inspired us all, and we’re excited to keep the good times rolling as we continue our mission to tackle MND!

A special shout-out is a must for a few top-notch legends: Graham Dunn, who expertly wrangled all things golf, and his son Luke, who fearlessly managed the Registration Centre (a.k.a. the Tiki Bar) like a pro all day long. A huge thanks to Mick Broadbent and the tireless bar volunteers who kept the drinks flowing, Megan Lacey for her balloon masterpieces, and the unforgettable Rocko (Richard Ball) for providing some sweet tunes. Let’s not forget the magical Phil Coffey, who had the crowd spellbound, and DJ Darb (Brad Holdsworth and Dillon Galloway, who kept the party rocking late into the night.

And of course, the ultimate freebie queen, Kaya Briggs, who, along with her sister Ariane, ran an epic tombola and raffle event with more determination, charm, and sheer willpower than we’ve ever seen! Kaya, you deserve a standing ovation for getting people to open their hearts (and wallets!) for such a worthy cause.

Last but not least, to the man of the hour, Frank—happy 70th! We hope we made your birthday one for the history books.

Thank you to everyone who made this day unforgettable!

As for updates, this will be my final post on the Fulneck website. We’ll be switching to Facebook and Instagram to keep you in the loop about future events. It’s been a blast—take care and see you on social media!

To Memphis Pete and All Our Amazing Supporters,

I wanted to take a moment to express our deepest gratitude for your incredible performance and the generous efforts of everyone involved in raising funds for MND. Your talent and passion brought so much joy to the event, and the funds raised will make a real difference in the lives of those affected by Motor Neurone Disease.

Memphis Pete thank you for channelling the spirit of Elvis and giving us a night to remember. Your performance was nothing short of spectacular, and we are so grateful that you shared your gift with us for such a worthy cause.

What a day for MND

We don’t know what is next, it’s the same for us all

However we can adapt to change, either big or small

An outlook of,!! I can still enjoy what is there for me

Takes over I don’t have the option of waiting to see

A chance to put back , instead of all take

Defines the person , are they genuine or a fake

A fundraiser for a charity, Which now is me

Yes let’s raise the awareness of MND

For the future so they can find a cure

On my terms I can enjoy life not just endure

Bar Golf Update

Well, that was a bit messy

Saturday 20^th July 2024

After taking great consideration on my game, for example working on my grip and swing path. Ensuring my grip was not too tight and that I was swinging from inside to out. Even practicing with the use of alignment sticks to help maintain the correct swing path.

I focused on my putting routine, developing a consistent pre-putt routine to help me to stay calm and focused. I even practiced lag putting to get a feel for distance control, unfortunately to no avail…..

I arrived early to warm up properly. I took deep breaths, and I visualised a successful shot. I was informed that using a solid warm up routine would help ease my nerves and build confidence.

I worked on Improving my physical fitness, particularly concentrating on my core strength and flexibility. I Worked on my swing mechanics to ensure I was generating power efficiently. I was also advised that the use of a launch monitor could provide insights into how I could optimise my launch conditions.

With all the information on board and ensuring proper weight transfer during my swing. Keeping my head steady and focus on maintaining a balanced finish I took my first pint. It was a steady start I equalled par and for the first nine holes I hit a respectable 29. This is when it started to get messy. Have you ever tried to have a conversation where you are fined if you use a persons name or point at anything? For me this was the most devasting fining system ever, no swearing easy, drink left hand only a doddle, but this had a devasting effect on my financial situation. Plus, once I had reached hole 12 that was me gone, that with the help of friends I was able to reach hole 14, to also find that I woke up in my own bed and not being told off was also a remarkable achievement..

How did we do? Well, who was the winner with the lowest score, no idea it wasn’t me. On our just giving page at this moment in time we made £132. On the day with fines, we raised £120.10. The band and donations to MND we raised £44 which if my mathematics is correct, we raised £296.10, not bad when we only going out for a beer.

On Sunday 29^th September at Fulneck Golf Club, we are coming together for Franks 70th birthday, as I am sure you are aware Frank has been diagnosed with MND. The day promises to be something special as it starts of with games of golf, fund raising for MND and evening entertainment, everyone is invited. If you are able to donate raffle prizes or even your time for this day please let us know and bring your wallets as any money raised will be going to MND.

Terry’s Secret Garden

Terry’s Secret Garden

Well, that took a while after getting out the begging bowl and going down on our knees, plus a generous turf donation from Terry Walker the movement of ten tonnes of pea shingle the 1^st hole ditch has been completed.

There are a few the names being muted and one of them is Sniper Alley. I have a few issues with this name.

Sniper alley is the period of live when you enter your fifties and for no explicit reason you die.
I can not envisage Mr Walker lying in wait and shooting anyone who stands on his grass.
On the 9^th we have cardiac hill, I don’t think we want to scare of visitors with another death hazard.

I prefer Terry’s Secret Garden, as I could see him if he ever played a bad round, getting out the deckchair and chilling on his lawn with a cold pint of Guinness (non-alcoholic) enjoying his day, in peace and quiet.

Like with most things let us reflect and see which name takes hold whether in fact it becomes, Sniper Alley, Terry’s Secret Garden or even Terry’s Midnight Garden let time decide.

Brilliant Recover

If you have followed the horrendous news from the aftermath of yesterday’s storm and the damage caused to the golf course. You will be pleased to know due to the hard work of Rob, Tom and two wonderful volunteers, Paul Blake and Peter Rushworth their sterling work is paying dividends. A further update from this original post at 13:46 on 20th June all is back to normal, Rob and Tom are back to cutting.

Although the greens team with the help of a few volunteers have cleared up the mess there maybe stones or rubbish on the course that may have been missed, can we please ask if you do see any stones on the course pick them up and avoid any damage being caused to mowers. Thank you for your support and a big thank you to Rob, Tom, Paul and Peter who have rescued a real devastating position over the last day and a half to such a positive outcome by Thursday afternoon.

It Never Rains It Only Pours.

It must be summer as the rain is getting warmer.

On the evening of June 18, 2024, Fulneck Golf Club experienced a thunderstorm of biblical proportions. Paths were washed away, and debris was scattered across the third and fifth fairways, the third bunker, and the fourth tee. The greens staff are working tirelessly to clear and repair the damage. During this challenging time, we ask for your patience, as they won’t be able to cut the rough or fairways on these holes until all debris is removed. If not cleared, the stones could damage the mower blades, leading to costly repairs amounting to thousands of pounds, which we cannot afford. Any assistance from members to help Rob and Tom with the cleanup over the next few days would be greatly appreciated, as it will expedite the recovery process.

Please be extra vigilante between the 3rd and the 4th path as this has been very badly damaged due to the torrential downpour.

Junior Golf Academy – Latest

Fulneck Golf Club launched their Juniors Golf Academy on Wednesday 29th May 2024. The numbers that did and are still attending is impressive, starting with 12 budding golfers and this has now grown to 13.

We invite you to come and see for yourself, you might just get the golfing bug. all equipment is provided for the coaching sessions and is held every Wednesday through the summer starting at 18:00.

The first session is free, the regular weekly cost will be £6 per session which will run for 90 minutes.

The academy is aimed at children aged 7 and a above.
